About as

In 1992 the HRH Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn Music Library was first established and housed in Mahidol University’s main library, financially supported by Bangkok Bank PCL, as a dedication to HRH Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of her third cycle birthday anniversary, and as a service providing various musical materials and audiovisual media for public interest.

To catch up with the rapid growth of advanced technology, we have digitized audio and visual data so that research can be conducted efficiently. Services can be offered via the Internet, making information accessible in a more convenient and speedy manner.

At present, our visitors can search for knowledge and download related information about Thai traditional music, such as pieces previously performed on “Sangkeet Pirom” (Pleasure with Music), a radio program produced by the Public Relations Department of Bangkok Bank PCL and hosted by Professor Poonpit Amatayakul, MD, and more than 1,000 DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) readings produced by the Ratchasuda Foundation for the benefit of the visually disabled and those with reading problems. In addition, academic data and information are also offered to support Thai music education and research.
